Hello readers! For those who are new, these are now quarterly posts where I share all the details of my progress on my FIRE journey!
So why switch from monthly to quarterly? Well originally it wasn’t intentional- just got a bit behind on the monthly posts but had intended to catch up. But then I decided that, with where I’m at, I feel comfortable putting trust in the market and spending less time fixating on my money. I just want the occasional window into how things are going. So far I put all my money in the S&P 500 so it’s not like monthly swings change the next months behavior. So I’m gonna try doing these reports quarterly from here on out to see how it goes!
After a disastrous September, the market recovered well and then some. Over the last three months, the market went up 10.65%, putting the years total at 27%! It really doesn’t get much better than that! With the S&P 500 just below 4,800, I’m really curious to see how 2022 goes!
I’m now settled into the new place and have been enjoying the increased paychecks. I’m looking to switch jobs in 2022, hopefully for something out of state, either remotely or by moving, so I’m looking forward to that! All feels in a good place monetarily.
Q4 2021 – $188,903.78 (+$31,940.47)
Not bad at all! Roughly $11k average per month, which is pretty good overall! I had hoped to end up at $200k for the end of the year, but it just didn’t happen that way.
401k – $77,183.94 (+$10,336.72)
A few thousand in contributions here and then the rest is market movement! Still all in the S&P 500.
Brokerage – $61,697.23 (+$17,290.67)
And here’s where a lot of the green is! I put $4k in per month and then the rest is market movement. I still think I’ll start putting some money in UPRO, but I haven’t set that up just yet. Of course it would’ve been great over the last three months but hindsight is 20-20!
Roth IRA – $33,162.53 (+$3,292.15)
All market movement here, so pretty impressive! Almost time to get started throwing money in here again!
Cash – $9,298.54 (-$374.09)
A bit of a drop here but honestly stayed pretty even, because I’m shuffling about everything I can into the 401k and brokerage account.
HSA – $7,561.54 (+$1,395.02)
Pretty good movement here, with some money going in and some market movement. Gotta reset for 2022 and make sure my contributions let me max the account out again!
Hope you enjoyed this net worth report! Happy saving!
